Video Project Contribution

4/20/15-4/24/15
This week, we began on brainstorming for our video project. I helped my group brainstorm and typed the script.

4/27/15-5/1/15
This week, we began shooting our video. I acted out a few scenes, and when I was not on camera, I was filming my classmates and giving them tips.

5/4/15-5/8/15
This week, I spent a majority of the time editing the video. I had to edit it twice, because for some reason the project file could not open on Friday.

5/11/15 - Final
I finished editing the video. Daniel edited the last part of it, and added it to mine. By splitting up the work, we were able to save time, especially since our project file could not open and we had to start over.
Overall, my contributions to the group include: brainstorming, typing the script, acting, filming, and editing. I really liked working with my group. Although we had some disagreements, we were able to work well together. I do not think anyone slacked off, or failed to do his/her part.

Have a wonderful summer Mr. Carter!

Blog Entry 3: Supporting Materials

Essay:
My essay explains the issue of clubfoot: what it is, why it is important, and how it is treated. It also presents a problem and how treatment can be improved. My solution to this problem is to create a new cast to provide more comfort and efficiency to patients.

Props:
A sample plaster cast currently used for treatment. I will then show my own idea and web-like lattice design for the new cast. The two casts can be compared to show improvements.

Website:
My website will explain what congenital clubfoot is and how it is treated. It will also explain the new cast in response to some complication and issues with treatment. I will also include a link to an official nonprofit organization, and encourage my audience to donate to this cause.

Poster:
My poster will explain what congenital clubfoot is, and the components for treatment.

PSA:
My idea for my PSA is to raise awareness about what congenital clubfoot is, and how it can be treated. This issue is important because clubfoot affects 1 in 1,000 infants. With proper treatment, however, children can lead healthy, normal lives.

Tri-fold:
My poster will be the main component of my tri-fold. I will also attach pictures of my brother when he was undergoing treatment to show real-life examples of this condition and how it is treated.

Presentation:
Appropriate dress, speak clearly and concisely, explain the problem so that it is easily understood, be prepared to answer questions

Blog Entry 2: Look and Feel

The presentation and visual aids for my capstone project will be serious and professional. I plan to use different colors on a black background to show contrast between data reported such as graphs and other statistical information. All of the graphics for my project (poster, website, etc.) will follow the same color schemes (green, black, and white). As for the fonts, I will choose different fonts for the subject and the information. I want easy-to-follow and informative visuals. The images that I include will be computer generated and used to help my audience visualize the information I am presenting. I am intending to create clean visuals with contrasting colors to present my information and solution proposal.

Above is an example of the type of design I want.

As for my logo, I want to have something with feet in it similar to the Ponseti International Logo.

Blog Entry1: Capstone Project Statement of Intent

The goal of my capstone project is to improve the casting used in the Ponseti method for congenital clubfoot to provide more comfort for infants. This is important because congenital clubfoot is a deformity that affects infants all around the world. These goals fit with my career objectives because I wish to pursue a profession that allows me to apply health care studies to the general public. My project gives back to society because it will benefit the lives of those affected by this deformity.

I really like the poster that I made during January term because it is colorful and very informative. I would be content with submitting it as my final poster, but I believe there is always room for improvement.

I would consider myself somewhat knowledgeable with software such as Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Premiere. I know about these software enough to complete assigned projects.
